A Tough Question That Will Shift Your Life

Why does this question matter?

“Would you follow you?” is one of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself. It challenges you to look in the mirror and evaluate whether your actions, values, and mindset align with the leader you want to be. Whether it’s in parenting, relationships, your career, or any aspect of your life—your leadership begins with you.

We’re often quick to advise others on what they should do, but are we living by those same standards? This question isn’t meant to make you feel bad—it’s meant to bring awareness and empower you to make necessary changes.

Here’s why it’s important to ask yourself this question:

  1. Accountability: This question forces you to get real with yourself. If your habits, words, or actions don’t align with your values, it’s a sign that change is needed.
  2. Growth: The moment you realize there’s a gap between where you are and where you want to be, you have the opportunity to grow. Awareness is the first step to transformation.
  3. Integrity: Leading with integrity means that your actions reflect your values. If you wouldn’t follow you, how can you expect others to? Start by becoming the person you’d want to follow.

So, ask yourself:

  • Do your habits reflect your goals?
  • Do your words reflect your beliefs?
  • Does your attitude reflect your values?

It’s time to take a deep, honest look at yourself. If the answer is yes, keep doing what you’re doing. If the answer is no, there’s work to be done. And that’s okay, because progress starts with awareness.
