Building a Toolkit for Resilience
Last week we tackled understanding the role your mindset can play when facing adversity, and it’s literally the difference between getting through it, or staying stuck. This week I want to equip you with really practical strategies you can draw on when faced with stress or adversity. My ask is that you put these to use, and share them with someone you lead or mentor in or out of the home!
Here’s what you can include in your toolkit:
- Mindfulness and Meditation: These practices help center your thoughts and emotions, allowing you to approach situations with calmness and clarity. Try starting with just five minutes of meditation each day. Meditated is a chance for you to go inward, turning down the external noise so you can connect with your innermost thoughts and desires. The clarity that is delivered with meditation is game changing.
- Physical Activity: Exercise is not only good for the body but also for the mind. It can help reduce stress and anxiety. Whether it’s a brisk walk, a yoga session, or a full workout, find an activity that you enjoy.
- Strong Support Network: Surround yourself with people who uplift you. Having a supportive network to lean on can significantly impact your ability to persevere. Who are 4 people in your circle who you can count on to fan your flame, cheer you on, and have your back?
- Continuous Learning: Keep a journal of challenges you’ve faced and how you’ve handled them. Reflect on what worked and what didn’t. This reflection will prepare you for future challenges.
- Practice Gratitude: Regularly acknowledge things you’re grateful for. This can shift your perspective from what’s going wrong to what’s going right, and you know that gratitude is my favorite. Speaking of gratitude, here is a link to a daily journal I created so you can get started right away: https://stan.store/angebhardt/p/get-your-daily-motivational-journal
Start integrating these tools into your daily routine. You’ll soon find that you’re better equipped to handle the ups and downs.
Looking forward to our next blog post where we’ll explore how to maintain true to your values even under pressure.
Best wishes,
AG
