Quality Over Quantity: The Secret to Your Success
Why does your circle matter?
The people we surround ourselves with directly impact who we become. Have you ever noticed that you start to adopt the habits, attitudes, and even the energy of the people closest to you? This happens because our environment shapes our mindset, and our mindset determines our actions. That’s why it’s critical to be intentional about who you allow into your life.
Having the right people in your corner can help you grow, stay motivated, and keep you accountable to your goals. But if your circle doesn’t challenge you, support you, or believe in you, it could be holding you back.
Think about it: if you’re trying to reach new heights in your personal or professional life, but the people around you are negative, complacent, or don’t believe in your dreams, how much harder will it be to succeed? Your potential is heavily influenced by the people you spend the most time with. So, who are those people?
Here’s why this matters:
- Energy is contagious. When you’re around people who are positive, motivated, and driven, their energy rubs off on you. On the flip side, being around negativity can drag you down, even if you don’t realize it.
- Your circle influences your mindset. Your mindset shapes how you see the world, and how you respond to opportunities and challenges. Surrounding yourself with growth-oriented people means you’ll start adopting a growth mindset too.
- Support is critical to success. We all face challenges in life, but having the right people to lean on can make all the difference. The people in your circle should inspire you to keep going, even when it gets tough.
Now that we know why this matters, let’s get into the specifics of what kind of people you need in your corner.
The 4 Kinds of People You Need in Your Life:
- The Ride-or-Die Friend: You need that one friend who will be there no matter what. I’m talking about the middle-of-the-night, flat-tire friend who builds you up when you’re flying high and picks you up when you fall. They don’t judge—they just support.
- The Mentor: A mentor is someone who inspires and teaches you. This could be a real-life mentor, an author, or even a thought leader you follow online. The key is to learn from their experience and apply those lessons to your own life. “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”
- The Hype Friend: Everyone needs a cheerleader! This is the friend who’s your biggest fan, the one who believes in you even more than you do. They get excited about your dreams and push you to go further.
- The Coach: Often overlooked, but SO important. A coach doesn’t let you settle for mediocrity—they push you, challenge you, and help you achieve results. Want to level up in any area of your life? Find a coach who’s already where you want to be. (P.S. I offer coaching—let’s chat if you’re looking for guidance!)
Take a moment today and assess your circle. Do you have these four people in your life? If you do, celebrate them. If you don’t, it’s time to start finding them.
Remember, growth happens when you surround yourself with people who support and challenge you to be the best version of yourself. Let’s build that circle together!
