Stronger Than Yesterday

It’s easy to get so wrapped up in where you are and what’s going on around you to remember how far you’ve come. I know that over the past 2.5 years we have all been dealt the kind of cards that you squint your eyes when it’s your turn to draw from the pile because we are afraid of what is coming next. We have been “through it” to say the least. We’ve been forced to navigate uncharted territory, figure life out in ways we never thought we’d have to under circumstances that drove nearly everything to a breaking point.

So if lately, it all feels a little much, and you find yourself feeling a little extra mentally and emotionally exhausted with the weight of all the things happening around you, I want to remind you of two things. One, you can do hard things, and two, you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. It’s been a lot and it’s been heavy… but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

I want you to stop for just a second and seriously think about one of the hardest things you have overcome in your life. I want you to take yourself back to the moment when you were in the thick of it. Back to when you were scared and fearful and not sure how it would turn out, or what would happen next. Do you remember what that felt like? Do you remember tiptoeing the fine line between hope and despair? Here is the good news, you overcame that. You are here right now. You made it!

Sometimes it’s in the midst of the madness that we have to remember what we are made of and what we have already endured and overcome. The beauty of doing this is that it immediately shifts our perspective and lessens the fear and hopelessness of the current situation we are in, because nothing could be as difficult as the most difficult thing you have already overcome.

However if where you are is the hardest thing you’ve had to walk through– then remember this. You have overcome challenges before. You have made it through every single time, and you sitting right here in this moment is proof.

You my friend are so much stronger than you think. Life has equipped you with the tools you need to navigate the unknown and come out on top, and every time you just become a bit more resilient and capable.

So when it feels hard or heavy, or the light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t seem so bright, remind yourself of how far you have come and how strong you really are. Think of the strength you’ve gained, and appreciate the ways in which the challenges have changed you for the better. You’ve been through a lot, but you’ve grown a lot too! Give yourself credit for this, and continue to step forward with grace.

Big Hugs,
