The Science of Sustaining Motivation
Have you ever wondered why motivation sometimes feels like a flickering flame? Today, we’re diving into the science-backed strategies to keep that fire burning.
Understand Motivation Peaks: Research shows that motivation tends to peak in the mid-morning and early evening. Leverage these natural peaks by scheduling challenging tasks during these periods, ensuring you make the most of your motivated state.
Combat Procrastination: Break the cycle of procrastination by using the “Two-Minute Rule.” If a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately. This small win mentality helps build momentum. This rule also works by setting a 2 Minute timer on the task you need to do (to get you started) what you will find is that when that timer goes off– you’re going to want to keep going to make progress and or finish the task at hand. It’s not the work we avoid – it’s starting – so trick your brain with this hack.
Motivation Tip: Establish a routine but embrace flexibility. Life is unpredictable, and being adaptable prevents routine from becoming monotonous, keeping your motivation fresh.
